Three public servants, whose identities were not revealed, are being held in Nampula, accused of participating in crimes related to the mismanagement of funds allocated to the fight against Covid-19, according to the director of the Office of Anti-Corruption in that part of the country, Maria Emília Ferrão.
The source that is quoted by the newspaper Notícias says that one of the three detainees has already been charged, while the process of the other two is in the preparatory instruction phase.
The public servants are accused of mismanagement of five million Meticais. The director also revealed that 22 other citizens are also arrested for involvement in other forms of corruption, some of them in the public road, where 12 were found in flagrante delicto.
Maria Ferrão, who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the commemorative week of the African Anti-Corruption Day, invited the officials and agents of the state in the province to devote themselves to fighting corruption in its various forms, joining the ranks of those who are dedicated to work on behalf of transparency and integrity.
