Nampula: Police capture alleged Naparama leader in Mutuali

Nampula: Polícia captura suposto líder dos Naparamas em Mutuali

Last Friday (25), the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in Nampula showed to the press an individual suspected of being the leader of the Naparamas who have been sowing terror and destroying public infrastructures at the headquarters of the Mutuali administrative post in the district of Malema.

According to a publication on the IkweliThe accused is 38 years old and is said to have led the group that has undermined social, economic and political stability in that district.

"At around 11 a.m. on the 23rd, the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) carried out an activity in collaboration with the command of the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in Cuamba, Niassa province, which culminated in the neutralization and arrest of a 38-year-old individual. The same individual is believed to be the head of the operations, the main mobilizer of the Naparama group for the attack that took place on the 16th against the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) at the Mutuali administrative post," said Dércio Samuel, head of the public relations department at the PRM provincial command in Nampula.

The source said there is information that this group has undergone a traditional ritual, where they are prepared and vaccinated to face the Defense and Security Forces.

Dércio Samuel also guaranteed that the Defence and Security Forces will continue to work to neutralize and arrest all the members of this group, known as Naparamas, so that they can be held criminally responsible.
