Nampula and Nacala will soon have a rail link

The Minister of Transport and Communication, Mateus Magala, assured the Assembly of the Republic (AR) this Thursday that there will soon be a passenger train linking Nampula and Nacala, as a way of reducing the lack of transport on this route.

Magala also promised to strengthen rail transport on the Nampula-Cuamba and Cuamba-Lichinga-Interlagos lines.

"Our ambition extends to a Mozambique-Malawi passenger train," said Magala, recalling that he made this promise on Monday during his visit to Nampula.

Magala also said that in areas of the country where there is no fare card, the government will subsidize passengers through mobile wallets. The duly registered operators will receive a subsidy.
