Maputo Municipality increases fine of four thousand meticais for concrete transporters

Município de Maputo aumenta quatro mil meticais em multa para transportadores de Betão

The Maputo Municipality, meeting in assembly, this week approved an increase in the fine for concrete transporters by another four thousand meticais, from the previous one thousand meticais to five thousand meticais.

This is a fine for pouring concrete on the public highway. The amount is multiplied by each linear meter of concrete poured, reports Notícias.

The offender is also obliged to remove the concrete spilled on the public highway and to repair, at their own expense, the section of the sidewalk that may have been damaged.

The aim of this traffic policy instrument is to keep the city's roads in good condition and prevent them from deteriorating.

To avoid being penalized, hauliers are obliged to protect the point or channel where the concrete exits the mixer so that it doesn't spill. But they must also notify the Municipal Police in advance of the route to be followed so that monitoring can be carried out.
