The Beira Municipal Council, in Sofala province, handed over new equipment to the Municipal Police this Wednesday (23), an initiative aimed at strengthening the corporation's operational capacity.
According to the mayor, Albano Carige, the equipment, the number and nature of which has not been disclosed, is also intended to strengthen enforcement actions on the city's streets, with particular emphasis on traffic management, pedestrian safety and the prevention of practices that harm urban coexistence.
For Carige, "the equipment represents a concrete step in promoting a safer, more orderly and functional city", stressing that "the fight against disrespect for the rules of circulation and occupation of public spaces requires a municipal police force that is equipped, motivated and close to the citizen".
