MTC will reinforce measures to stop accidents

After another traffic accident, on Friday, on the National Road Number one (EN1), in Maputo province, Manhiça district, where 14 people have already died, according to the latest data, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) said it will announce, in the coming days, the strengthening of measures to prevent and reduce the accident rates on national roads.

The accident was a frontal collision involving a passenger car, known as "chapa", and a truck. In a statement from the MTC that we had access to, it indicates that the expertise is continuing to determine precisely what happened and the consequent accountability of the culprits for this accident.

The statement said the offenders should be held responsible, because one can not continue to watch passively this type of accidents, as if it were something normal. It is known that the police point out as probable causes of the accident the irregular overtaking, combined with excessive speed by the "chapa", which was doing the route Manhiça-Xipamanine. "The MTC intends to reverse this situation as soon as possible," says the document.

It should be noted that last year, in the same area, Maluana, 32 people lost their lives in an accident involving a bus and two trucks. Meanwhile, there have been accidents that have taken human lives all over the country, many of them due to the irresponsibility of drivers.
