The humanitarian organization Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has hired more than 700 health professionals this year to respond to the cholera emergency in the country.
Another 500 health technicians from the provinces of Cabo Delgado, Niassa, Nampula, Sofala, Zambézia, Tete, Manica and Maputo are being trained in the fight against cholera, from January last year to this July, according to Rádio Moçambique.
According to the representative of Médecins Sans Frontières in Mozambique, Benjamim Mwangombe, the training aims to prepare health professionals to prevent and control cholera.
Speaking to the public broadcaster, Nangombe said that MSF would continue to promote health services in various parts of the country, as part of its partnership with the Ministry of Health.
The statements were made on the sidelines of the First Conference on Transdisciplinarity for the Elimination of Cholera, which has been taking place since the 29th of this month, yesterday in Maputo.
