The Government and potential Strategic Investors pre-qualified for the selection of the partner that will develop the Mphanda Nkuwa Hydropower Project and associated energy transport infrastructure will today hold a conference in Maputo.
According to Radio Mozambique, which cites a document, it indicates that the session is intended to present clarifications on the progress of issues relating to the project.
The international financial institutions that are partners in the project, such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank, will present the guidelines for their role in the hydroelectric project, and address issues of financing and guarantees for the project.
It is expected that when the dam goes into operation it will provide about 1,500 megawatts of power, making Mphanda Nkuwa the largest investment in the construction of a power plant.
The hydroelectric project will be built 60 kilometers downstream of the Cahora Bassa dam in Tete province.
