As part of the celebrations of the September holidays (September 7 and 25) and Peace Day, which is being commemorated today, Moza Banco recently held a reflection meeting in which it brought together two national thinkers who reflected on the process of achieving independence and development in Mozambique.
These are the philosopher, art critic and university lecturer Dionísio Bahule and the researcher and Head of the Office of Studies, Legal Assistance and Audit of the News, Benedito Novela.
Under the slogan: "From Victory to Transformation - A Reflection on Mozambique's Independence and Development Process", Dionísio Bahule reflected on the "Road to Mozambique's Independence, giving a historical and gradual presentation of the process of liberating the country, also discussing the figures involved.
In his speech, Bahule valued the role of those who tirelessly fought for the conquest of independence, also looking at the fact that they were positively inspired by other contextual geographies that boosted the resurgence of the nationalist spirit among Mozambican citizens.
Meanwhile, for Dionísio Bahule, there are now new struggles that include the fight against neo-colonialism and, consequently, the search for a sense of patriotism and belonging. "We need to start looking inwards. We have to rebuild our values and make them guide the future of our citizens. We can no longer limit ourselves to merely replicating Western models," he stressed.
It was up to researcher Benedito Novela to share his vision around the sub-theme: "Mozambique Today: Development Challenges and Opportunities", in the light of which he analyzed the current stage of the country's economic and social development, as well as the list of opportunities that currently exist.
According to Novela, we need to awaken the dormant industry and take advantage of the various opportunities that exist in different sectors of activity, ensuring that the country has diversified sources of income.
"We are a resource-rich country. Some of these countless resources have already been exploited in the past, but today, a considerable part of this industry is lying dormant. We spend our lives importing everything and never give ourselves time to think of new solutions and models economic"Benedito Novela lamented.
Jaime Joaquim, a member of the Executive Committee, took the opportunity to point out that Moza is a bank that is attentive to the various opportunities in the market and is always available to provide financial resources to the various investors wishing to invest in Mozambique.
"As Moza, our concern is to ensure that we are a reliable partner that you can count on. We are already part of Mozambique's history because where Mozambicans are, we are too," stressed Jaime Joaquim, who also moderated the meeting.
Celebrating the most important and relevant events in Mozambique's history is a necessary and indispensable exercise for Moza, as it is a bank that has been a source of national pride and Faz Acontecer for more than a decade.
