Mozambican actor and comedian Laquino Fonseca died this Monday, aged 41, from an illness.
The news of his death was confirmed on Tuesday by close friends of the deceased.
The artist had been suffering from an umbilical hernia since 2020, a condition whose treatment cost around 170,000 meticais, according to the newspaper O "País".
After he was diagnosed with the disease, several campaigns were launched to help the artist, who made a name for himself in theater, film and music, having starred in several music videos.
Laquino starred in Resgate, the first Mozambican production to arrive on Netflix. Filmed between 2017 and 2018, the feature film "Resgate" premiered in 2019 at the Lusomundo cinemas in Maputo and Matola.
He has been part of other important productions such as "Blood Diamonds" (2006), directed by Edward Zwick and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Connelly and Djimon Hounson, as well as the epic "Ali", played by American Will Smith.
