Ivorian singer Monique Seka, considered the "Queen of Afro-Zouk", will be in Maputo for two shows on March 3 and 4, 2023, at the Galeria in the Port of Maputo, starting at 7 p.m., marking the beginning of a series of major concerts that will take place every month at the Galeria in downtown Maputo.
On the first day of the concert (March 3), Monique Seka will share the stage with Mozambican artists Hot Blaze, Humberto Luís and DJ Faya. On the second day (March 4), Mozambican artists Miguel Xabindza, Valdemiro José and DJ Sérgio Butler will share the stage with the Ivorian singer. The show on the 4th includes a joint.
Monique Seka, one of the most consistent stars of African music, has yet another opportunity to enchant Mozambican fans with her dazzling voice and unique ability in the art of music.
Descended from a family of musicians, Monique Seka embraced not only the music of her homeland, but influences from all over the world. She began her career in 1982 as a member of her uncle Jhon Morgar's group, the Maya Vocal Band. After a long stint with the Ivorian TV Orchestra as a chorister, she launched her solo career with an album of love songs, Tontie Affou, in 1985. Four years later, he released his second album, Missounwa, which won the "Gran Prix de la Musique Afro-Caraibeene" award. With the release of her third album, Okaman, in 1995, Monique Seka reached an international audience. She toured the four corners of the world and collaborated with Bisso Na Bisso with whom she performed the titles Africa by night and Amio, and duetted with Jack Rapon, Bozy Boziane and many other artists.
