Mozambique will cooperate in building the capacity of Malawi's armed forces

Malawi's defense forces will now be trained at the Tenente General Armando Emílio Guebuza Higher Institute of Defense Studies in Mozambique.

This is the result of the deepening of bilateral relations between Mozambique and Malawi in the area of defense and security, the fruit of talks that have been held between the parties through the Permanent Joint Commission on Defense and Security, according to RM.

The announcement was made in the city of Blantyre in Malawi by national defense minister Cristôvão Chume, in an exclusive interview with Rádio Moçambique.

According to Chume, in addition to the Instituto Superior de Estudos de Defesa Tenente General Armando Emílio Guebuza, Malawi's defense forces will also be received at Mozambique's marine schools.

Chume also announced that Mozambique, through the naval base on Lake Niassa, will now maintain Malawi's defense and security vessels.

For Mozambique's Minister of National Defence, these are actions that lead the two countries to work in an environment of mutual trust and cordiality for a common cause, which is the fight against organized crime.

Mozambique is already training Malawian defense forces at the military academy in Nampula. (RM)
