Mozambique: EU launches job creation project

Moçambique: UE lança projecto de criação de emprego

The head of the European Union's Infrastructure, Private Sector Development and Investment Team in Mozambique, Veerle Smet, announced the implementation of a project called "Game To Change", budgeted at 8.5 million euros.

The source was speaking this Thursday in Maputo at the annual stocktaking meeting of the project called "Promotion of Professional Education and Employment" (PEPE), the "Game for Change" project.

Smet said, quoted by AIM, that the project is aligned with promoting jobs for women and involving Mozambican youth in the green transformation.

The permanent secretary of the Secretary of State for Youth and Employment, Ivete Alane, said that, within the scope of PEPE, it is necessary to prepare the National Institute for Employment and Professional Training (INEFP) as a crucial strategy for the success of the project.

"We see the project as one of the mechanisms with the potential to help promote companies. We want this project to move very quickly from debates, seminars and workshops to the field and practice, with the aim of employment and self-employment," he said as quoted by the agency.

The source also called for the certification of vocational training centers, the expansion of work-based training, the training of trainers and the equipping of employment centers by the National Institute for Employment and Vocational Training.

"Job centers are traditionally the gateway for young people looking for work. It's there that they receive the necessary guidance on professional training, vocational training, formal employment and self-employment," he explained.
