Mozambique will be declared a bird flu-free country next April, an official source said.
According to the National Director of Livestock Development at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Américo da Conceição, the last case of bird flu was recorded in October last year in Inhambane province, when 40,000 laying birds were slaughtered.
Quoted by Rádio Moçambique, Conceição said that there are investments in the production of hatching eggs, and that the figures indicate current imports of 40% compared to the previous figure of 60%.
