Internet access in Mozambique has been limited since early Friday afternoon, according to the MZNews.
From the information we have received, it is suspected that "higher orders" are being carried out to obstruct mobile data communication. This is affecting the networks of the three mobile phone companies in the country.
The case comes a day after the National Electoral Commission released the centralized results of the October 9 general elections. The results, which have yet to be validated by the Constitutional Council, point to victory for the Frelimo party and its candidate.
It also comes on the second consecutive day of protests against electoral fraud across the country.
It should be remembered that last year, internet communication was limited in the post-election period, due to marches. This year, the internet has become more expensive for citizens, following a review of packages.
Since the social developments of 2023, social networks, which only work with internet access, have been the main resources for reporting incidents across the country.
The demonstrations, now in their third day, have been called by the independent candidate, Venâncio Mondlane, through live broadcasts on his social networks. This afternoon, Mondlane is scheduled to make another announcement on the internet.
