Mozambique wants to help solve political crisis in Eswatini

Moçambique quer ajudar a resolver crise política no Eswatini

Mozambique will use its mandate as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council to help resolve the political crisis in Eswatini.

The neighboring country continues with the challenge of ending the political crisis marked by pro-democrats so that the monarchy is abandoned in the Kingdom.

In Mozambique's term on the UN Security Council, which begins on January 1st, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, guarantees that the return of stability in the kingdom of Eswatini is one of his priorities.

"We are moving forward within the framework of SADC and now more than ever, we are going to try to prevent the worst from happening because we are on the United Nations Security Council. Even though we're not a permanent member, we have a two-year mandate that starts in January, so we're going to continue to influence tranquillity and calm, where we can resolve everything that may exist, peacefully and using the main weapon that Mozambique has very well and knows how to use, which is called dialogue," said Filipe Nyusi.

The Head of State was speaking on Wednesday at a meeting with representatives of the Mozambican community abroad, who greeted him on the occasion of the end of the year. On the occasion, Nyusi hailed the quality of the Mozambican diaspora.

"With your message I recognize that our government, despite the adversities of various kinds, is concerned about the well-being and framework of the diaspora, our diaspora that we have, a diaspora that we are very proud of because it is not problematic. Mozambique is not on the list of high-risk countries, where citizens are always censored, but this is not the case with our compatriots," he said.

At the meeting, the President of the Republic announced that next year the presidents of the Swiss federation, Kenya and Zambia should visit Mozambique.
