Mozambique has recorded 25 deaths and almost nine thousand cases of cholera in three months

Mozambique recorded 25 deaths from cholera and 8,878 cases of the disease in the period from October 1st to January 8th, the Ministry of Health (MISAU) announced.

The MoH's daily bulletin on the general situation in the country regarding cholera cases states that the fatality rate is 0.3%.

The highest number of cases of the disease were recorded in the provinces of Nampula with 2,840 and 12 deaths; followed by Tete with 1,859 and six deaths; Zambézia with 1,554 cases and one death; and Cabo Delgado with 1,463 records and one death. The city and province of Maputo are the only ones without a record of the disease.

In the last 24 hours there have been 83 new cases of cholera, 63 hospitalizations, 87 discharges and no deaths. There are currently 81 hospitalized patients.

In three months, the cumulative figures for the whole country are 6,387 and 7,772.
