Since last weekend, Mozambican citizens living in South Africa have been benefiting from a civil registration campaign to issue biometric tickets.
The first phase of the campaign will cover the civil registration of children and adults, and later teams from the Ministry of the Interior will go ahead with the issuing of identity cards, says the News.
For the time being, those living in the Western Cape and Mpumalanga provinces will be covered.
The campaign, launched by the Minister for Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Helena Kida, is part of government programs to bring public services closer to citizens.
Kida sees this as a response to undocumented Mozambican citizens in South Africa.
The same campaign is underway in Malawi, and it is planned to extend it to Tanzania and Angola.
