The government approved, through the Council of Ministers, the regulation of the Forestry Law, a document that aims to adapt the respective law to current dynamics.
According to the spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Filimão Suaze, who was speaking after the end of the 27th ordinary session, forest management issues have been gaining momentum, and modernized regulations are one of the aspects currently required by law.
"As you can see, the exploitation of our forest resources has also been an issue for our society, and there are a series of subsidies that we are experiencing today that were not the case yesterday," said Filimão Suaze.
The government also pointed to licensing, land management itself, as well as "other matters that are understood to have gained a new dynamic over time and needed to be updated" as examples of the current reality.
At the same session, the Council of Ministers approved the decree amending the Legal Deposit Regime.
The instrument aims to adjust the Legal Deposit Regime to the dynamics of the national publishing market and to allow the creation of specific bibliographic collections for provincial public libraries, which will become the privileged depositories of all intellectual and cultural production relating to their provinces.
Also at the same session, the Executive ratified the Agreement between Mozambique and Kenya for the mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses, signed in Maputo in August 2023.
