Mozambique has withdrawn from the race to chair the African Tax Administrations Forum Network for women in taxation.
Despite the support shown by the Forum's executive secretariat and members of the network's board of directors, the President of Mozambique's Tax Authority, Amélia Muendane, says that the country has preferred to make room for other women to take on the leadership of the organization.
This Thursday, Veronique Hermnie from the Seychelles was elected by consensus.
Mozambique had been chairing the board of the African Forum of Tax Administrations' network for women in the tax field since 2021.
Amélia Muendane says that Mozambique will remain a member of the network's board of directors and gives a positive assessment of the mandate that has just ended.
This Wednesday, Amélia Muendane presided over the opening of the workshop on reducing gender inequality in taxation in Africa run by the African Tax Administrations Forum Network for women in taxation.
The Forum was created in 2009 and the network was born in 2021. (RM)
