Mozambique officially joins the African Continental Free Trade Area from this month (June), a move that is expected to further boost the national economy.
Accession could help reduce the cost of consumer goods, increase employment opportunities by boosting Foreign Direct Investment, and establish regional value chains, according to "O Noticias".
Silvino Moreno, Minister of Industry and Trade, considers the participation of the private sector in this process to be crucial, which is why he urged it to exploit all the opportunities that joining this platform promises to create.
"Next month we will effectively enter the African Continental Free Trade Area and we want the private sector to seize this opportunity," said the minister quoted by the newspaper.
However, the minister acknowledged that the country enters this zone with some deficiencies in its ability to do business.
Given the inexperience in doing business in this "forum", the government official says there is a need to initially seek a better understanding of the processes and methodologies in order to take better advantage of this model.
