The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said that the meeting between Mozambique and Tanzania, this Friday, in the city of Pemba, in Cabo Delgado, had as a backdrop the strengthening of bilateral relations of friendship and cooperation.
Speaking at a press conference at the end of the meeting that took place behind closed doors, Filipe Nyusi said that the deepening of the security issues of the two countries was the keynote of the conversation.
On the occasion, the Mozambican Head of State said that the enemy is sophisticating the methods of its action, so it is necessary to find a new approach in fighting the terrorists.
"The terrorist crosses our common border, he's here or he's there, so we more than anyone, are more interested in addressing this issue of the problem of terrorism, with more dedication. Therefore, we are the most interested because we are neighbors, and so as neighbors, we have to tune in, because it is different from those who do not directly experience the problem, and once again, I want to thank the presence of our sister, here, who took the initiative to be able to address the problem together with Mozambique to find solutions as quickly as possible, "he said.
The President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu, in turn, reiterated her commitment that her country will continue to provide support in the fight against terrorism. The Tanzanian Head of State met with part of her country's troops, who are part of SAMIM, the military mission of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), which helps to fight terrorism, in Cabo Delgado province. Samia Suluhu also returned to his country on Friday.
