Mozambique and South Africa analyze bilateral cooperation

South Africa's Deputy Minister for International Relations and Cooperation, Candith Mashego-Dlamini, will be analyzing bilateral cooperation between the two countries in Maputo on Wednesday, the South African government announced yesterday.

In a statement, to which Lusa had access, the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO) said that she will co-chair the South Africa-Mozambique (MTR) mid-term review of the Binational Commission (BNC).

"Considering the close historical relations between the two countries, the main objective of the working visit is to review the progress made in implementing the commitments made during the 3rd Session of the BNC held in South Africa in March 2022," the statement said.

According to the South African ministry, the bilateral relationship between South Africa and Mozambique is conducted through the BNC, stressing that the two countries have so far signed more than 70 agreements and memorandums of understanding.

"In recent times, there has been growing interaction between the Presidents of both countries, as South Africa and Mozambique aim to increase levels of trade and investment cooperation and ensure peace and stability in the region," he said.
