Mozambique challenged to modernize logistics corridors to improve competitiveness

Moçambique desafiado a modernizar corredores logísticos para melhorar a competitividade

The Minister of Transport and Logistics, João Matlombe, said today in Maputo that there is a need for Mozambique to speed up the modernization of logistics corridors in order to make logistics solutions sustainable and innovative, so as to build an integrated, resilient, digitalized and environmentally responsible logistics chain at the service of national and regional competitiveness.

According to João Matlombe, who was speaking during the laying of the foundation stone for phase "1A" of the Container Terminal expansion project at the Port of Maputo, competition from neighboring ports such as Richard's Bay and Durban, both in South Africa, including the growing Lobito corridor in Angola, should inspire the country to go further.

"The expansion we are witnessing today is a firm step, but not the last. We must continue to invest, simplify and automate port services. And the digital transformation of the Port of Maputo should serve as an example to the entire national logistics sector. To this end, we encourage all companies in the sector to embrace digitalization as an indispensable tool for greater productivity, security and transparency," said the government official, quoted by the Portuguese press. Sunday newspaper.
