Mozambique announces resumption of electricity supply to Zambia

Mozambique will once again supply Zambia with energy and the two countries also want to resume cooperation in the agricultural sector.

Joint committees from the two countries are finalizing the last details of the documents that will guarantee the resumption of cooperation in the agricultural and energy sectors.

In the agricultural sector, the two countries want to boost production and productivity by turning their attention to exchanging experiences between producers.

The announcement of the resumption of cooperation between Mozambique and Zambia in these two sectors was made yesterday by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, at the state banquet he hosted for his Zambian counterpart, who is visiting our country.

The head of state said that cooperation between Mozambique and Zambia will only make sense if it benefits their peoples.

In his speech, the President of the Republic stressed that historical and cultural aspects have strengthened the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the governments and peoples of the two countries.

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema said it was also in his country's interest that the cooperation agreements signed with Mozambique should lead to an improvement in the living conditions of its people.

As part of his visit today, the President of Zambia will visit the Maputo combined cycle gas-fired power plant and will then be received by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Esperança Bias.
