Mozambican designer Hélio Manjate, who in the arts goes by the name Luxury Recycle, was recently distinguished at the Ghana Fashion and Style Awards, a fashion award that is held annually in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
The designer won the "International Stylish Icon of the Year" category, in which he competed with 50 other African artists, and lifted the statuette at this gala for the second year in a row.
The deliberation was shared by the organizers, with half the decisive power to each of them.
"This distinction, for me and for my career, means that our dreams are valid, and that Mozambique is on the map of the African fashion world," Recycle reacted, saying that the award should be seen as an opening for exporting national talent.
Besides fashion, Luxury Recycle is dedicated to music and is preparing the EP "Im Not a Rapper", a recording project that features several national and international artists.
