Mozambican sprinter Steven Sabino competes today at 11 a.m. in Lima, the capital of Peru, at the World Junior Championships, in search of a place in the semi-finals of the 100-meter flat. Sabino, who was recently disqualified for a false start at the Paris-2024 Olympic Games, is trying to redeem himself in this competition.
With a personal best of 10.35 seconds, achieved last year in South Africa, Sabino has shown consistency, despite recording 10.59 seconds at the African Senior Championships in June, just above the minimum required of 10.55 seconds for this World Championships.
Since the 24th in Peru, Sabino has been adapting to the climate and the track, remaining confident after recent results of 10.43 and 10.51 seconds, which reinforce his expectations for a good performance, according to a publication from the Challenge newspaper.
