The family and friends of the 22-year-old Mozambican student who was the victim of a supposed murdered in Odivelas, on the outskirts of Lisbon, Portugal, took part in a farewell ceremony on Thursday.
Amara Shakirah Marques Aliz Dias, who had been living in Portugal since 2021, lost her life as a result of a fall from the fourth floor apartment in the building where she lived, in the Colinas do Cruzeiro area. People who witnessed the incident say they heard cries for help moments before the fall.
The ceremony took place at Lisbon's Central Mosque and was attended by family members, colleagues from the university where he studied medicine, and members of the community.
The Consular Attaché of the Mozambican Embassy in Portugal, Nilza Nemane, quoted by TVM, said that the Mozambican community in Portugal received the news of Amara Dias' death "with great regret". She said that the ceremony held on the 29th was organized by family members living in Portugal.
On the other hand, he said that the embassy had approached the Odivelas Judicial Police to find out more about the case. "We don't have any official information at the moment. The authorities have not provided any information about the investigations," he said.
