The Minister of Health, Armindo Tiago, said last Saturday that the health sector will recruit more doctors for peripheral health centers, as a way of responding to complaints from users.
In recent months, Maputo's Central Hospital, especially in the pediatrics department, has been experiencing unusual flooding due to slow service, which has upset patients who come to the facility.
The Minister of Health, who was speaking on the sidelines of the second session of the Frelimo Central Committee, reaffirmed that patients must obey the established criteria for care, with the most serious always taking priority and not on a first-come, first-served basis.
"Our main objective is to save lives and, in this regard, the most serious patients will always have priority over those who can wait in line a little longer to be seen," he said, as quoted by STV.
However, he assured that the sector is preparing to place more doctors in the outlying health centers who can attend to patients from morning until nightfall, in order to deal with patients who are not in serious condition.
