Greece wants to strengthen cooperation relations with Mozambique

A delegation of diplomats from the Greek government, led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic, Nikos Dendias, arrives in Maputo tomorrow for an official working visit focused on fortification and cooperation in various areas.

According to a press release, during the visit the Minister will hold bilateral meetings with Mozambican authorities, with the aim of concluding a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations, as well as a meeting with Adriano Maleiane, the Prime Minister.

On the same occasion, the statement said, the Greek government official intends to officially hand over a donation to the State Secretariat for Youth and Employment, to support vocational training and job creation for young people in Cabo Delgado province.

He will also visit the European Union Training Mission in Mozambique (EUTM-Moz), of which Greece has been a member and has been contributing on national territory since April 2022, by training the FADM Special Forces at the Dongo military training center in Manica Province.

Minister Dendias also intends to hold a meeting with Mateus Magala, Minister of Transport and Communications, with a view to creating economic cooperation with a focus on maritime transport, among others.

The Honorary Consul General of Greece in Mozambique, Gerasimos Marketos, also made it known that "the Memorandum of Understanding agreed between the parties is an important step towards consolidating this relationship, institutionalizing the process through reciprocal visits at a political and diplomatic level, for the sake of economic and social development".
