The Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, met with FEMATRO to discuss how the parties can define reforms that guarantee a decent and safe transport system.
Mateus Magala has been in charge of the Ministry of Transport and Communications for a little over a month. And since he took over the portfolio he has been constantly in meetings with the heads of the transport associations, with a view to providing solutions to the numerous problems that this sector presents.
And last Friday, a day after the beginning of the payment of compensation to transporters, Mateus Magala met again with FEMATRO, staff from his ministry, the Metropolitan Agency of Maputo, the associations of transporters of the metropolitan area and Maputo Province.
"We discussed perspectives of what we want to do in this sector, what we want to achieve, and how we are going to do it. I think that, in general, there is a consensus and communion of ideas. The most important thing is that we are unified and with a common agenda and division of responsibilities that we need," emphasized Mateus Magala.
As a result of the meeting with the transporters, Mateus Magala promised that the Government will deeply intervene in the sector. "We will do everything to modernize, adapt, enhance, and reorganize the transport sector," he assured.
