Health Minister seeks cooperation with Brazil

The Minister of Health, Armindo Daniel Tiago, has been on a working visit to Brazil since Monday, as part of bilateral cooperation.

During this trip, which will last until November 12, several cooperation agreements will be signed, including the training of specialist doctors.

"They are part of the challenges facing the Mozambican health sector and will give shape to the agreements to be signed by the health sectors of the two states, the establishment of partnerships for the accelerated training of specialist doctors, the establishment of a pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology in health, among others," explains the Ministry of Health (MISAU) in a statement.

The MISAU recalls that Brazil "is recognized worldwide for its strong potential in the pharmaceutical industry, in the biotechnological innovation system and in the training of medical specialists".

"The specialist training agreements to be signed during this visit by the Minister of Health will also make it possible to provide specialist doctors and much more, to meet the demand resulting from the presidential initiative 'One District, One District Hospital'.

Among other human resources, the presidential initiative calls for professionals specialized in nursing, intensive care, instrumentation and anesthesiology, and other priority areas of medical specialties," he said.

These agreements, the statement said, will allow Mozambican doctors to be sent to Brazil and also the arrival of Brazilian specialists to train medical specialists in Mozambique.
