Militares chineses participam do exercício conjunto com Tanzânia e Moçambique

The Chinese military arrived in Tanzania on Wednesday to take part in a joint exercise with counterparts from Tanzania and Mozambique.

Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman Zhang Xiaogang said on Thursday that the exercise was focused on counter-terrorism, according to local channel CGTN News.

"The militaries of China, Tanzania and Mozambique will hold the joint exercise 'Unity of Peace-2024' from late July to mid-August," said Senior Colonel Zhang Xiaogang, spokesman for China's Ministry of National Defense, at a regular press conference on Thursday.

According to the spokesman, under the theme of joint military operations to combat terrorism, the joint exercise will take place both on land and at sea.

The exercise aims to increase the capabilities of the troops participating in joint counter-terrorism operations and to deepen mutual military trust and practical cooperation.

It will be conducive for the three countries to jointly preserve regional peace and stability, the spokesman noted.
