Microsoft Corp said Friday that it will not attend the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2022 in Las Vegas in person, joining a list of companies that have opted out of having a physical presence at next month's event due to concerns over the rapid spread of omicron.
The American software giant added that it will continue to participate in CES remotely.
Early last week, several other companies including US-based General Motors Co, Alphabet's Google and its self-driving self-tech company Waymo, Meta Platforms, Facebook's parent Twitter, Lenovo Group, AT&T and Amazon dropped plans for in-person participation.
CES officials on Thursday said the event will still physically take place next January 5-8, with "strong security measures in place," which include vaccination requirements, mask wearing, and availability of covid-19 tests.
