Microsoft hits $39.3 billion profit in second half of 2021

Microsoft announced days ago a profit of $39.3 billion in the second half of 2021, up 34% year-on-year, for revenue of $97 billion, up 21% year-on-year.

According to information provided by the Lusa news agency, among Microsoft's services whose revenues grew most, the highlight goes to Azure and others in the 'cloud' (46%), the software for managing companies Dynamics 365 (45%) and the Linkedin portal for professionals (37%).

However, not everything went smoothly for the North American multinational. The business growth provided by the Xbox video console dropped to 10%, after in 2020 it experienced an unprecedented rise due to the emergence of the new coronavirus pandemic.

It should be noted that last week Microsoft announced that it will buy, for $68.7 billion, the American video game company Activision Blizzard, which will be its largest acquisition to date and corresponds to a strong bet in this sector.

The acquisition, makes Microsoft the third largest company in the industry by revenue, after China's Tencent and Japan's Sony.

Sales of Windows operating system products, which has been the company's flagship for decades, grew between 13% and 25%.
