The Mozambican Medical Association (AMM) called the press yesterday to announce a third strike, the start date of which will be announced this Friday (09).
Through their president, Milton Tatia, the doctors say they are going to resume the strike, allegedly because the government is not complying with what was agreed.
"The government hasn't been serious, it hasn't implemented what it agreed with us. Of what was agreed, only 10% has been implemented," revealed AMM president Milton Tatia at a press conference.
"What's more, this May the doctors received their salaries with considerable reductions, lower than in April. No one can explain the reasons for this, we approached the MISAU and got no explanation for the problem," the AMM laments.
The demands don't stop there. The doctors say that "we have a lack of diagnostic resources, from laboratory reagents and imaging equipment (X-rays and CT scans) to a shortage of medicines."
Faced with this scenario, the doctors also say that there are hospitals without emergency services at specific times and others that are going to implement restrictions.
Recently, in the face of the health workers' strike, the government came out and gave assurances that there would be hospital equipment (reagents, gloves, tablets, etc.) for the next eight months.
