Enrollment for new entrants to the first year of schooling for 2023 starts next October 3, according to a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education and Human Development (MINEDH).

The Ministry plans to enroll, by December 30, 2022, more than 1,500,000 children who turn six years old by June 30, 2023.

In fact, the MINEDH has 1 510 189 vacancies available, which represents an increase of 10% compared to the current academic year, according to Feliciano Mahalambe, quoted today by "O Pais".

"Last year we had a total inflow of one million, three hundred and ninety-four thousand, seven hundred and fourteen, which has a weight of eight percent," he explained.

The official reminded that enrollment is free, so parents and guardians should enroll their children without any kind of payment.
