Matola: Frelimo members to be polling station presidents

Matola: Membros da Frelimo serão presidentes de mesas de votos

The members of the polling stations for the elections in the administrative post of Infulene, the largest and most populous administrative post in Matola, with 15 neighborhoods, are civil servants and members of Frelimo.

According to a clandestine list to which Boletim CIP had access, the presidents, vice-presidents, secretaries and 4th scrutineers, all decision-making positions, come from Frelimo.

"In the 55-page list, it is notable that the presidents of the polling stations are teachers from various schools, civil servants, from provincial directorates, and members of Frelimo party zone committees," reads the CIP document on the electoral process.

In fact, the same publication states that the chairman of one of the EPC 24 de Julho's tables is an official in the office of Governor Júlio Paruque, now the Frelimo party's list leader in Matola.

The document states that "there are still many heads of departments and secretariats subordinate to the Maputo provincial government. There are also many members of the Infulene Zone Committee, the largest and most populous administrative post in Matola, with 15 neighborhoods."

The same list, says the CIP Bulletin, includes the names of the schools where the polling stations will be located, the electoral roll numbers, the position each member will occupy, their full name, where they come from and their contact details. The names of the presidents of the polling stations are clearly highlighted.

Of the seven members of the polling station, five are from Frelimo, one of whom was appointed by law. The opposition holds only two seats (Renamo and MDM). The rest were appointed due to party influence.
