The act took place at 1 a.m. on Thursday, in the expansion area of the 1st district, in the town of Massangena, in the north of Gaza province. There are no details about the incident, but it is suspected that the perpetrators were Frelimo members.
This is the second case since the election campaign began. In the first case, unknown individuals, allegedly in possession of machetes, knocked on the door of the home of one of the STAE members representing the opposition, at around one o'clock. The worst didn't happen because the victim didn't come out and asked the neighborhood for help.
The north of Gaza province is a bastion of the Frelimo party and a point of extreme political intolerance. The opposition's presence in these hard-to-reach districts is residual. The district of Massangena borders Machaze, a district of Manica.
Gina Matuasse, a member of the CDE representing the MDM, is the owner of the house that was burned down. The police and the neighborhood leadership went to the scene, but there are still no indications as to the identity of the perpetrators. (CIP Eleições)
