Marracuene will have tree-lined roadsides

Marracuene terá bermas arborizadas

With the support of the Republic of Congo, the district of Marracuene, in the province of Maputo, will plant 2000 thousand trees on the side of the road connecting this town to Macaneta, in the context of urban forestation.

According to "Notícias", the project is part of the commemoration of the 62nd anniversary of the independence of this African country, which will be celebrated on August 15th.

To this end, the ambassador of the Republic of Congo, Constant Bounda, and the representative of the Government of the District of Marracuene, Justino Cuna, recently signed an agreement of understanding to enable the plan.

The afforestation of the road will take place on August 13 and aims to make a green tunnel in that stretch. The initiative is supervised by the National Forestry Department and the Repensar Environmental Education Cooperative, a civil society organization working for environmental conservation.
