The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) detained 47 young people from various provinces of the country on their way to Maputo city.

They are supposed to be part of the march to Maputo City promoted by presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane.

The PRM spokeswoman in Maputo province, Carmínia Leite, explained that it was through a tip-off that the movement of this group of nationals came to light.

"They were found in a house in the Bobole neighborhood. They come from several provinces. They were being transported in a car. They are currently being held here for further proceedings," he said.

He said that the retention of citizens is the result of coordinated work between the police and the community, which, as part of cooperative relations, reports the movement of strangers.

They were transported to Maputo in a truck, and the driver told the police that the citizens had been hired by a company.

The police are working to establish the truth of the matter.
