A Renamo sympathizer in the city of Maputo escaped an assassination attempt in the early hours of Friday morning inside his home. He lost a finger in the fight against the assassins.
On Thursday, Renamo was in the youth square, in the Magoanine neighborhood, in yet another peaceful demonstration against the election results.
MZNews had access to a video in which the victim, identified as Magaia "MG", recounts what happened and concludes that the mission of the two armed men who broke into his house was to take his life.
"The situation is ugly. After the elections, we started the marches with Venâncio Mondlane and many young people joined the marches as protests to say what they would like to see in Mozambique, what they did at the ballot box," he began.
He says that there is a list containing the names of Mozambican citizens who must come to a tragic end. The list includes the names of Renamo's list leader, Venâncio Mondlane, social activist Adriano Nuvunga and other activists who are contesting the election results.
"This triggered a wave of kidnappings, murders and blacklists, of which I am a part, my friends, Venâncio, Dr. Nuvunga and some activists involved in this war for the truth," he said.
In addition, some of his friends who have joined the marches promoted by the Renamo party in Maputo city "were also visited".
"On Friday, I was visited in my own home at 3am by two men who came with a clear mission: to break in and wipe me out. Thank God I managed to escape long before that. I managed to defend myself against them and they ran off. One got into the car bleeding. They left in a stampede, but it cost me my finger. I now have 19 fingers. I was shot in the hand. Their intention was clear. They were coming to kill me. They went to the house of two of my companions. They broke into the houses. One of them was threatened with kidnapping and the other was threatened with death. We're being persecuted every day," said Magaia "MG".
However, he assumes that he is no longer intimidated by death and that it is easy for the 'assassins' to find him. He refuses to live cloistered in his own homeland.
