The Ministry of Transport and Communications informs users of National Road Number One (EN1) and the general public that one lane in each direction will be restricted from March 11 to June 9, 2024, according to a statement from the ministry quoted by RM.

The situation is due to the ongoing construction work on the pedestrian bridge in the area of the Police Science Academy (ACIPOL), in the district of Marracuene, in Maputo province.

In the same press release, the Ministry of Transport and Communications indicated that during this period, traffic management measures will be implemented to allow safe transit on the site.

The Ministry urges motorists to use alternative routes whenever possible to minimize congestion.

Financed by the Korean International Cooperation, KOICA, the pedestrian bridge in the ACIPOL area is part of the Maputo Metropolitan Area Road Safety Infrastructure Construction Project, which includes traffic circles, crosswalks, road traffic monitoring cameras, among others.
