The President of the Maputo City Council, Razaque Manhique, announced today at the Zimpeto Wholesale Market that this commercial infrastructure will close on Monday and Tuesday of next week to make way for cleaning and restructuring work.
Speaking to the traders, the mayor explained that the market needs cleaning because the current conditions are deplorable, not least because it is the reference market that supplies other markets in the city and the country.
It should be remembered that this week the start of the cleaning process at the market failed due to rumors about the supposed loss of stalls. However, Manhique assured that "no one will lose their stall because of the cleaning".
"People and our population deserve to be in a better place," he said.
