The province of Maputo has already been declared cholera-free, following the control of the case that was diagnosed in a seven-year-old child in the district of Matutuíne.
According to the Provincial Health Director in Maputo, Daniel Chemane, who was speaking on Sunday, after 30 days of health surveillance, with the discovery of the first case of the disease in the region, the health sector has successfully managed to control the only case of cholera in the province and at the moment there are no signs of the disease.
However, the source warned that, despite this relief, "communities must continue to redouble their individual and collective hygiene measures, so that they are not once again surprised by cases of this kind".
