The Magude District Prosecutor's Office, in Maputo province, is investigating the alleged suicide of a gang member who used to rob residences in that town.

According to a Radio MozambiqueAccording to the report, the individual in question allegedly took his own life using a pistol-type firearm when he found himself at a dead end during a chase by locals on the outskirts of the village of Magude.

However, the case gained new repercussions when the population found another member of the alleged gang, supposedly an agent of the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC).

"He was tortured by the population and later arrested by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) and is currently in hospital," said Magude district prosecutor Carolina Munguambe.
