A road accident yesterday, Thursday (5), left 16,000 customers without power in the municipality of Matola, Maputo province, southern Mozambique.
According to a note from Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM), the neighborhoods of Liberdade, Liqueleva, Matola B, Matola D, Matola F, Matola J, part of Matola H, Mussumbuluco and part of Malhampsene were affected.
"The accident occurred when a lorry hit a medium-voltage electricity transmission pole and caused an anomaly in the medium-voltage line from the Machava substation," the statement said.
The document goes on to say that after learning of the incident, the company immediately sent a technical team to the scene to restore the power distribution system in the affected neighborhoods "as soon as possible".
"We are committed to working to further improve the quality of our services," the note reads.
