Maputoː Doenças cardiovasculares matam cerca de 300 pessoas por mês

Around 300 people die every month in Maputo city due to cardiovascular diseases, revealed the Minister of Health in Maputo.

He was speaking this Saturday in Maputo city during the closing ceremony of the first Scientific Meeting on Cardiovascular Health.

Ussene Isse defended the need to invest in primary health care in order to prevent cardiovascular diseases, especially hypertension, strokes and heart attacks.

“Primary care is the fundamental pillar of our governance because 65% of our population lives in rural areas. If we intervene very strongly in the health centers, in the community sub-system, treating the population there, promoting, preventing, we will reduce many complications that we are having today,” said Health Minister Ussene Isse quoted by Rádio Moçambique.

Isse also defended the need to create robustness in the health sector in order to ensure the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.
