A Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) shot two young men, on Monday (21), in Tete province. They were a 20-year-old woman, hit by a bullet in the head, and a 34-year-old man, shot in both ankles. The victims were taken to the Tete Provincial Hospital (HPT).
The 20-year-old woman suffered an injury to her forehead and her right eye was affected, as her eyeball was ruptured, said João Sérgio, the HTP's deputy clinical director, quoted by the newspaper. News.
On the other hand, 73 people were arrested in the cities of Tete and Moatize, following protests against the results of the mid-term elections on October 9 and the triple murder of Elvino Dias, Paulo Guambe and a third citizen on the night of Friday, October 18.
The information about the detainees was provided last night by the spokesman for the PRM Provincial Command, Feliciano da Câmara.
He said that during the popular repression operations, the police seized instruments that the population tried to use to set up barricades on public roads.
The protesters, he said, broke into a house and damaged the rear window of a car parked in the yard in the Matundo neighborhood.
He said that the police are still positioned in strategic locations to ensure that people can move freely on the public highway, despite the fact that the cities of Tete and Moatize have the situation under control.
