A car belonging to the director of the State Information and Security Service (SISE) in the city of Chimoio was stolen last Friday, the authorities announced. In connection with the case, three individuals have already been arrested by the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM).
This is a case that took place a few days after the robbery of the Public Prosecutor's Office and the Central Anti-Corruption Office.
According to the PRM spokesman in Manica, Mateus Mindú, last Friday, at around 7pm, the director of SISE went to a supermarket in the city of Chimoio. However, when he left, his car was no longer where he had parked it.
"Efforts were made which culminated in the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of four individuals allegedly linked to the case. Other vehicles, also allegedly stolen, were recovered during the operation," said Mateus Mindú, quoted by the newspaper "The Country".
Meanwhile, one of the accused denies the accusations that he stole the SISE director's car in Chimoio. "Suddenly, the police arrived and took all of us who were in the car, but I don't know anything about it," he said, quoted by the same newspaper.
According to Mateus Mindú, the criminals, upon realizing the presence of the police force, tried to flee using one of the vehicles that had been seized from their possession, having damaged it slightly, adding that, "during the chase, they ended up immobilizing their vehicle and unsuccessfully tried to flee into the woods".
